Urban sprawl is a significant challenge in urban areas and considered as the most influential drivers of landuse and land cover change associated with growth of populations and economy. Iran's cities have been facedwith the urban sprawl phenomenon, especially since the 1970s. More recently, scientific studies have beenproved negative impacts of urban sprawl in Iran's cities including the destruction of landscapes and naturalresources around the city and coastal areas. Mashhad is a metropolis which has faced urban sprawl in recentdecades. The present study aims to generate an urban sprawl model using statistical and remote sensingapproach by the integration of geographic information system (GIS) in Mashhad city, northeastern Iran. For this purpose, various temporal LANDSAT satellite datasets were used to map land use/land covercharacteristics and to evaluate built-up growth in Mashhad in 1996, 2006 and 2016. Maximum likelihoodclassification method (MLC) mapped the land cover for the Mashhad using Landsat TM datasets. Theability of MLC in minimizing misclassification errors by allowing variable weight specifications during theclassification process and use of training data made it a suitable method for this study. After MLC proses,Shannon’s Entropy based on the land use classification result is used to measure urban sprawl. Resultsindicated a significant increase of urban built-up area during the last two decades. During the two timeperiods of this study the Shannon entropy increased in all of the two time periods that showing the City ofMashhad continue to have a problem with urban sprawl.

Architecture and climate are two man-made and natural systems that have a strong impact on each other. The current study assesses the impact of the wind and solar energy on the formation of urban tissue andbuilding blocks in order to sustain and optimize the energy consumption in Golbahar City. According tothe studies, Golbahar City is a blockade and the orientation of the northern-to-southern masses is to thecurrent climate of the city. But the results of the current study identify East-to-West orientation for optimalclimate design. That is why the buildings created in this city have high energy dissipation due to inadequatedesign. Hence, the choice of this city is considered necessary for energy analysis. The research method wasquantitative in this research. Design based on literature review, field researches, climate studies andphotography by study instrument Ladybug for analysis was determined to complete this article's contents.First, by using the weather consultant software “Climate”, effects of such factors as sunlight and the windblowing from different directions and seasons have been analyzed to calculate energy consumption in abuilding. Then by evaluating the best strategy for the two mentioned factors, the way of sustainablearchitecture design was presented. Results were expressed in terms of different architectural design itemssuch as cover surface area, plan, exterior surface coating, heat storage material, heat dissipation, shading, ventilation, double-layered heat, and materials.

According to many researchers, "culture" is the main factor in the formation of architectural spaces andplays an important role in social sustainability. Therefore, studying culture and its impact on architecturalspaces is important in order to understanding human behavioral patterns. In this research, it has beenattempted to examine the influence of socio-cultural factors on the formation of architectural spaces byapplying a descriptive-analytical method and using library resources. Also space syntax method was usedin order to evaluate the influence of social aspects on the formation of architectural spaces. The results ofthis study indicate that the structural system of traditional Iranian houses is based on a hierarchical systemso that in order to reach the private space, it has to pass through a few intermediate spaces. This way ofreaching from the public space to the private space has also been derived from the culture and customs ofthose regions. In this way, it can be concluded that socio-cultural factors have a great influence on theformation of architectural spaces. Also, the cultural concept of the architecture prioritizes its materialmeaning and the architecture is just through socio-cultural organizations that come to the vitality.

This paper aims to present a conceptual model for analyzing the factors affecting the participation ofchildren in urban planning. One of the effective ways to implement urban development projects is toincrease citizens’ participation in the preparation and implementation of such schemes. Due to the age andawareness of children from the city, their participation is associated with a particular sensibility in the city. Therefore, the accompaniment of children in urban affairs requires a comprehensive and holistic view.Although urban planning research has emphasized the need for the participation of all segments of society, including children, so far, but few has comprehensively provided a conceptual framework for theparticipation of children in urban planning. The participation of children is influenced by many factors;however, most research has focused on limited aspects. This paper discusses the history of children'sparticipation in the widespread expression of theorists in this field. The methodology is based ondocumentary research methodology, which mainly contains information and results provided by previousauthors and researchers in the respective filed discussed. Documentary research method has beenconsidered as a comprehensive and technical way to strengthen other qualitative methods. Finally, theconceptual model is presented. The proposed model covers the field of software including rules andeducation, and hardware domain, including planning institutions and urban management institutions.

Architecture and music share many similarities from conceptual and perceptual viewpoints. They are alsosimilar in the fundamental principles governing them, such as rhythm, proportionalities, harmony, repetition, etc. Therefore, the strong link between music and architecture is manifested in the atmospherethey create, a mental or visual atmosphere which is barely investigated in relevant studies. The goal of thecurrent study is to investigate and perceive the formal relationship between music and architecture, beyondthe fundamentals linking them. The main research questions are: How can we relate the image created bya musical work and the impression created by that? Is there any relationship between the impression createdby the music and an appropriate architectural atmosphere favorable to individuals? The focus of the currentstudy is to consider the image created as a result of some complete piece of Iranian music, which isevaluated by the elderly (sample). Employing logical reasoning research method and simulation model, thestudy aims to find an answer for the first research question, and by seeking a yes/no answer to the secondresearch question, create an opportunity for the future research. Accordingly, first, the literature regardingthe relationship between music and architecture is reviewed. Next, the concept of atmosphere in architectureand music is described. Then the relationship between the feeling of interest towards the music type andthe features of images created as the result of music is explained. The results indicated that pieces of musicin which the rhythm is happier and faster result in more complex geometric shapes and more extrovertstructure. Finally, the study suggests that there is a close relationship between the impression created by themusic and the perception gained as a result of simulated image, which can be used in producing architecturalworks.

The historical heritage of each country is a tangible capital that despite preserving the identity and cultureof that region, causes improvement in the tourism industry and consequently moves the economic cycle. As tourism industry potentially affects the economy of each country, it is a concept that attracts attention. The main goal of this article is benefiting the recreation strategies of historical districts as a valuable capitalfor renovation and improvement of these historical districts in a way that the tourism industry improves. Inthis regard, the historical cities of Qebla, Lahij and Khinaligh in Azerbaijan have valuable historical districtswith tourism potential that need repair, preservation and renovation for improvement of tourism industryin these cities. Given these goals, these regions will be investigated in this research. Research mythologyin this research is descriptive-analytical. Likewise, using analytical methods of the hieratical model of AHP,each criterion will be weighed. To know the value of each criterion “expert choice” software is used.Finding shows that by creation of a desirable environment for welfare of the residents and tourists to keep unity between tourism potential and historical identity, the life and development of historical cities will beguaranteed.
